Orthodontic treatment is the best way to achieve the beautiful smile you deserve. However, there are things you need to do to take full advantage of the treatment, and one of those things is have a well-balanced diet. It’s also important to avoid foods and habits that can harm your appliances and your teeth. To help you have the best and most successful orthodontic treatment possible, Dr. Pierson and his team recommend doing the following things:

-Avoid sticky foods, like: Caramel, fruit roll-ups, gum, caramel apples, sticky candy, Skittles, Starbursts, toffee, gummy bears, and sticky or chunky peanut butter.

-Avoid hard or tough foods, like: Pizza crust, hard candy, bagels, popcorn, nuts, ice cubes, and bagels.

-Cut hard-to-eat foods into small pieces, like: Apples, carrots, corn on the cob, pizza, celery, chicken wings, pears, and spare ribs.

-Avoid tooth-harming habits, like: Chewing on pens, pencils, ice, and fingernails.
