As children in school, we seemed to have missed the fact that our teachers were the ones who were molding our brains into magnificent things. They were the ones preparing us for the lives we now lead. Some of us, unfortunately, never had the opportunity to let our teachers know what an impact they had on our lives. “Never again!” we said! Three years ago, Pierson Orthodontics started a contest in April with our patients. We asked them to nominate who they thought should win our Teacher of the Year award in San Antonio, Texas. Each patient that came through our doors had the opportunity to write why their teacher deserved this recognition. We had some funny, sweet, silly, and very detailed submissions. Our winner was Mrs. Buescher from Garcia Middle School and the author was her student, Ariel. Dr. Bradley Pierson, along with Ariel’s parents, surprised Mrs. Buescher and Ariel at school during teacher appreciation week. We honored Mrs. Buescher with flowers and her very own “Pierson Orthodontics’ Teacher of the Year award.” Miss Ariel received a little gift for the beautifully written entry. Our dentist and team didn’t want the other nominated teachers to go without knowing how loved they were by their students, so we mailed each teacher the submissions that were written about them. We hope it brought a little sunshine to their day.
Mrs. Buescher helps her students learn not only what is included in their text books, but who they want to be in life. Thank you, Mrs. Buescher, and all teachers, for dedicating your life to our children. You all have sacrificed so much for children who are not your own.
